Beautiful nightly sunsets – that’s the kids swimming – not sharks
We are home again after a relaxing holiday in the sun! We also got to spend a bit of time with Scott’s family on the way home which was nice too. There was limited phone reception (or in my case, none) so it was a completely switched off break and I must admit it did take a few days to get used to.
Now that I have made a small dent in the piles of washing, and the removal of bucket loads of sand from the caravan I can share some holiday snaps
First night camping, a little chilly at night!
We headed 1600 kms north from our home, just past the Tropic of Capricorn, to camp on the beach next to the Ningaloo Reef. I spent many holidays here as a child and also well into my teenage years – even taking Scott along a couple of times when we were first dating.
Definitely in the North West – red dirt and blue skies. This is the view from a lookout just south of Wooramel Roadhouse
Second night on the road (we took it nice and easy) and the dirt is getting even more red
Mum and Dad’s German Shepherd ‘Sam’. He loves the kids so much
It has been 11 years since we have camped at Ningaloo, it was quite different taking 3 kids this time! But they loved it as much as we did, and the only difference between their holiday and mine back when I was a child is that I had loads of cousins to play with!
No photo-shopping here, the water is really that colour, you can just see the breakers of the reef on the horizon
Different day – same view, same bathers and same beach toys
The weather was beautiful – around 25 degrees every day. There was a bit of wind, but it didn’t stop us spending the days on the beach. It was nice to escape the cool winter weather at home for a bit.
Lots of sand dunes to explore
Some fresh fish for dinner
Bit of fish cleaning first though!
Sam with his beloved ball
There it is again!
One particularly spectacular sunset
And one more sunset to finish off – this was the view from our camp
But now, it’s back to reality.
I will share the progress on my granny stripe blanket soon, 40+ stripes down! While we were away I was also busy cooking up a few plans for my blog and other new things, so stay tuned
