Seeing as I haven’t had much to share lately of the creative variety (still plodding away on a secret squirrel blanket for my sister!) – here is something that my clever Dad made recently!
**I really should have taken these photos on the weekend when the sun actually shone for two days, rather than waiting until today, which is perfectly miserable!! **
My Dad is a builder, and he is a carpenter by trade. He isn’t ‘on the tools’ much nowadays but he does love pottering in his shed making things, so I asked him kindly if he would like to make Izzy a day bed. Lucas was needing to make the move from his cot so I figured he could have Izzy’s bed and she could get a new one.
I drew a very rough sketch on a teeny bit of paper and showed Dad some pictures on Pinterest and then left him too it. A few weeks later it was finished.
It turned out beautifully and Izzy and I are very happy with it! I was hoping I would have an excuse to sew up some more pillows for her bed, but it turns out she already has enough
As well as the bed, Dad also made this nifty ‘teddy zoo’
The idea was not ours but came from Pinterest too. On further investigation it turns out they are an Australian product. You can read more about them and also buy them here.
Definitely a step up from the huge cardboard box we were storing her teddies in before
And now we have one happy boy in his ‘new’ bed, still smiling despite suffering from a nasty ear infection.
I’m looking forward to getting some more things sorted for my ‘shop’ this week so that I can open up soon, and to finish off some sewing projects that have been neglected for a little while. It’s looking like perfect sewing weather this week – cold and rainy!
